Ducky Decks LLC was founded by Richard Boulette, a veteran of the above-ground pool industry since 1993.
- In 1993, Richard managed a large retail store that sold hundreds of above-ground pools annually, many accompanied by kit deck systems.
- By 1995, he began building and servicing pools independently while maintaining a full-time job. Kit deck systems remained a popular option.
- In 2001, Richard established his own retail store, selling and installing pools. Kit decks continued to be in demand, but their complexity posed challenges. These decks often required extensive assembly, were brand-specific, and demanded excavation to fit properly. While manageable during new pool installations, they became problematic for customers adding decks later, sometimes making installation nearly impossible.
As business expanded, Richard worked with subcontractors and discovered that many installers refused to assemble kit decks due to their time-consuming nature. Recognizing the need for a simpler, more universal solution, Richard set out to design a deck system that would be profitable for contractors, easy for homeowners to assemble, and compatible with all pool brands.
Partnership and Development
In 2013, Richard met Ray Johnson, a manufacturer of boat docks, railings, handicap ramps, and small decking systems. Their discussions highlighted a gap in the above-ground pool industry: the lack of a universal, user-friendly deck system.
By 2015, Richard and Ray collaborated to design a revolutionary deck system that prioritized:
- Universal compatibility across all pool brands and shapes
- Ease of installation for both contractors and homeowners
- Safety and expandability, allowing decks to grow with family need
Product Features
The resulting deck system introduced several industry-first innovations:
Panel System Design:
- Available in two radius’ to fit round pools, while also adaptable to oval, square, or rectangular pools.
- Panels measure 4’x7’ and connect seamlessly, enabling expansion without limitations.
- Flooring panels drop into the frame without screws, ensuring secure placement and quick assembly.
Premium Materials:
- Flooring options include Cedar wood for natural appeal and heat-controlled PVC for comfort and durability.
Adjustable Telescopic Leg System:
- Legs adjust with precision, accommodating slopes and uneven terrain with minimal excavation.
- Standard stanchions are 30”, with 36” legs for heights up to 5’. Custom lengths are available for challenging landscapes.
Pre-Assembled Fence Sections:
- Welded and ready to install, offered in mill finish or powder-coated black or beige.
- Fence attaches quickly using the slotted system
Entry Systems:
- High-end swing-up ladder with wide treads for safety.
- Optional Grand Staircase with self-latching, self-locking, and self-closing gate. Available in 3-step or 6-step configurations to suit varying deck heights.
Launch and Certification
In 2018, Ducky Decks LLC officially launched the new deck system through Richard’s retail store. Working closely with local building inspectors and customers, the company refined the design to meet safety and performance standards.

supporting up to 50 lbs. - Designed to meet both contractor efficiency and homeowner convenience.
